Okay, I should probably preface this by pointing out that I am very, very white and therefore probably don't have the right to declare in absolute terms what is or is not racist.

Oh for fuck's sake.

Aside from the fact that I'm against censorship in general, I can't help but think that it actually makes things more offensive, not less, when you're using censorship as a tool to cover up parts of history you find uncomfortable. I get this 'oh no, we can change it; it's not like anybody in this country ever called anyone niggers, oh of course not' vibe from it that I just think is gross.

Trying to sweep instances of racism under the rug so that nobody has to deal with them or talk about them or get upset about them is in and of itself racist-- in that it means ignoring real problems that real people have been faced with in the past and are still faced with today.

I do not approve.
